A perfect winter's day at Lake Ferry

After Jeff had spoken to Tane and Kim and chewed the fat about last night's rugby game, we loaded the dogs, fishing gear, seats, sandwiches and thermos and headed out to Lake Ferry to go fishing and walking. As we left town we called into Bronagh and zipped her top up; had a gooey time with Raine.

Called into see Jesse and Sherry and found Kita and Jesse watching a re-run of last night's rugby match. Sherry and Mia were asleep so we headed out to Lake Ferry. A perfect clear blue sky and quite still sea. Hardly anyone else there. When we arrived there was one other vehicle there, a couple of beach buggies went by. After a cup of tea Jeff, and Meg and Skip, headed off to set up his rod and I went to use the long drop! Not a pretty site! Stinkeramahh!

I followed and found only Jeff and one other out there fishing.

Dogs and I headed off down
the beach for a fun walk with Meg and Skip having races along the sand. They would be running eye to eye when Skip would do a "Sea Biscuit" and put on even more speed. Not bad for an old dog!

An hour and a half later when we got back Jeff was sitting holding Mia, a bright lollipop sight in her pink top and hat. Jesse and Sherry had taken her across in her pram.

Mia was really calm, just listening to the motion of the sea.

Skip, Meg and Pip had fun playing together.

Jeff had caught a red cod and was jealously watching the man next door who was reeling fish in. Mackerals apparently the trick! While we were away he had seen a couple of girls having a swim; something you can't do very often there.

We headed off to the Lake Ferry pub for beers, lattes, chips and tomato sauce. There were bikers and day tourists sitting in the restaurant and outside in the sunshine.

A quick tour around the caravan park to look at the caravan we are thinking about buying.

Dropped in to Gran and Basil who were out so we left the fish in their fridge for them and headed home with two tired dogs in the back; all happy and content after a day "out of the box".

Photos of Kim and Jeff, Jannelle, Charlie and Sadie

Getting this blog started at last!

Saturday saw a fun event at the library.

Bronagh brought Raine along and he charmed everyone.

One woman asked to hold him, said he had a wonderful name, and then sadly handed him back "Oh, now I'm all clucky!"

Jannelle, Charlie and Sadie were there also to enjoy Mary Kippenberger and Peter Charlton-Jones telling stories and singing. We had balloons, cake and Clifford the Big Red Dog.

See my blog Megs Peg's for more photos: http://www.megspegs.blogspot.com/

Poppa seems to be getting better every day as the antibiotics are kicking in and he is very gradually recovering from the strange flu he has had. I love these photos of Jeff with his newly mown hair and Raine snuggling up together.

Queen's Birthday Weekend 2008

Get Together
Picked Raine up at 7.00am to let Bronagh sleep on a while.

Some of us gathered at Gran and Basil's house before we headed to the Greytown Working Man's Club for tea. Gran insisted we eat the crackers and dip she had put out; she explained she has always tried to provide enough food to prevent people getting drunk. There was an opportunity to lie the two new babies together on the floor. Although there is only a five day difference in size Raine is the on with the beefy thighs and much more length than Mia.

Mia was wearing a gorgeous black and white stripped top with black pants, fancy little shoes and a white head band. She is so lively that the shoes were quickly discarded and then followed by the socks. There as a funny moment while the two babies lay on the gound I got a photo of everyone photographing the babies. Paparazi babies already. We then headed off to the working man's Club where we met Nicky, her parents and Liam. Their baby is now five months formed and lying on Nicky's right side in the perfect position. Good inexpensive food, the growing young men, Kim and Tane, were able to go back for a second salad selection.

Mia slept most of the time and Raine was up and keeping Kim and Tane occupied. It is so good to see the boys enjoying babies without yet having the responsibilty.

When I went to download the photos I seem to have lost them! Sorry!
